Bayswater tube attack: Man denies attempted murder after commuter pushed under train Latest News

A MAN has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder a commuter by pushing him into the path of a Tube train.

Horrified commuters saw Alain Lesjongard be seriously injured when a District Line train struck him at Bayswater station during the evening rush hour on Thursday.

Alan Alencar, 29, is alleged to have shoved the man in his 50s, in the back as the Tube train pulled into the central London station.

The victim managed to crawl out from underneath the carriage and was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Mr Alencar, of Edinburgh, who appeared in a grey tracksuit at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.

District Judge Tan Ikram ordered Mr Alencar of Northcote Street to appear at Blackfriars Crown Court on December 1. The judge said there had been no bail application.

Juliana Ng, prosecuting, said the train driver saw the victim go onto the track and she applied the brake but despite that the train ran him over.

She said:”He was surprisingly able to crawl out from under the train and was taken to hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

“The defendant was arrested and taken to the police station.”

Alencar gave no reaction as details of the allegations were read to the court.
