GIVEN A SCHOLDING: Ex-United ace and joint club owner Paul Scholes watched on from the stands

Salford played the last few minutes of the game with 10 men after Crocombe was sent off in the 87th minute, but went on to win 2-1 against Bradford Park Avenue.

The goalie went to the side of the stand, where he outraged fans and the linesman by urinating.

At first there was confusion, with Park Avenue’s official account tweeting: “RED CARD! This is bizarre. Salford goalkeeper Max Crocombe has been dismissed and no one knows why…”

But as the crowd realised what had happened the same account tweeted a follow-up: “We can confirm that Crocombe has been sent off for urinating during the game. We are not joking.”

Max has since apologised for his behaviour on Twitter, saying “I was in a very uncomfortable position and made an error in judgement which spoiled a great win”.
