Iraq earthquake: 7.3 magnitude earthquake strikes Erbil Latest News

A HUGE earthquake has struck in the Middle East.

The 7.3 magnitude quake struck Erbil near the Iraq/Iran border, the US Geological Survey said.

It was felt as far away as Turkey, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates.

Shocked eyewitnesses have described buildings “violently shaking.”

One wrote on Twitter: “Just survived an earthquake.

The quake hit 200km north east of Baghdad at 9.18pm local time.

It had a depth of 33km.

It is not clear if anyone has been injured.

The US Geological Survey originally said the quake was a magnitude 7.2 but later revised it.
