Las Vegas gunman named as Stephen Paddock after Mandalay Bay shooting Latest News

The gunman behind the Las Vegas bloodbath has been named as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock from Mesquite, Nevada, police said.

Armed SWAT police shot dead the gunman on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel, where he fired a hail of bullets on concert-goers attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival.

Las Vegas Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said his body was found with multiple firearms and a warrant to search the room and home has been executed.

Paddock, a white male, had been living in a retirement community and had no criminal past, police told NBC News.

He has been described as a “lone wolf” attacker with no terror connections. His motive for the shooting is not yet known.

At least 50 people – including two police officers – were killed and 200 injured after the lone gunman opened fire on revellers attending the open air country music festival on Sunday night.

US President Donald Trump has paid his respects to the victims of the attack, posting to Twitter: “My warmest condolences and sympathies to the victims and families of the terrible Las Vegas shooting. God bless you!”
