VICTIMS: People are waiting for help after the attack at Ariana Grande’s Manchester concert

A special NHS unit was set up after the May 22 suicide bombing – which left 22 dead – to offer support for anyone psychologically affected.

Such has been the demand some victims’ relatives are still on the waiting list.

Steve Goodman, whose 15-year-old granddaughter Olivia Campbell perished, said his family were waiting for support.

“With regards to her dad and my wife, they’re not coping at all and we’re still on the waiting list for counselling,” he said.

“My wife is going to be treated for trauma and I’m being treated for bereavement loss because I didn’t attend the Arena.”

He said he was not surprised it was taking so long because such a large number of survivors and their relatives needed help.

His family has set up a charity to help young people get involved in music, dance and drama in Olivia’s memory.

The teen dreamed of becoming a music teacher.

“Having the charity to focus on has helped me personally,” Steve added.

Around 21,000 were at the concert by US singer Ariana Grande when Brit-born Islamic State terrorist Salman Abedi, 22, detonated a rucksack bomb packed with metal nuts to cause maximum devastation at the busiest exit.

Nine of the victims were under 20 – the youngest just eight.

Another 220 were hurt.

Many suffered life-changing injuries.

Thousands are believed to have suffered varying degrees of post traumatic stress.

A spokesman for the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Manchester Resilience hub, said they were currently supporting 2,500 people.

She declined to comment on individual cases.
