MH370 final report: Malaysia airlines flight location verdict revealed Latest News

Doomed jumbo jet flight MH370 went missing without a trace while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing in March 2014.

Now, three years on, Australian investigators have delivered their final verdict one of the biggest aviation mysteries in history.

The report, released today by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), said investigators were unable to locate the wreckage of the plane.

CASE CLOSED: Investigators were unable to find the missing Malaysia airlines flight

Greg Hood, ATSB chief commissioner, said “we did all we could to find the answers” to the “great tragedy”.

He said: “It remains a great tragedy and we wish that we could have brought complete closure to the bereaved.

“I hope, however, that they can take some solace in the fact that we did all we could do to find answers.”

The search to find the Boeing 777 was suspended in January this year after 1,046 days.

In a huge blow to the victim’s families the case will now be closed unless new credible evidence emerges.

“It remains a great tragedy and we wish that we could have brought complete closure to the bereaved.”

“It is almost inconceivable and certainly societally unacceptable in the modern aviation era with 10 million passengers boarding commercial aircraft every day, for a large commercial aircraft to be missing and for the world not to know with certainty what became of the aircraft and those on board,” the report said.

Investigators were unable to pinpoint the plane’s exact location despite carrying out the largest and most expensive underwater search ever.

However, the plane is likely to be located 25,000 sq km (9,700 sq miles) to the north of the earlier search zone in the southern Indian Ocean, the report said.

MISSING: MH370 vanished during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing

Although no new evidence was found, ATSB said its understanding of MH370’s location “is better now than it has ever been”.

Last month the diplomat investigating flight MH370 was gunned down – fuelling new conspiracy theories over what happened to the missing plane.

Honorary Consul of Malaysia Zahid Raza was reportedly shot in the centre of the island nation’s capital Antananarivo on August 24.

LAST LOCATION: The mystery continues over where the flight went

A shocking book claimed flight MH370 may have been accidentally shot down and the search for survivors covered up.

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad accused the CIA of knowing the whereabouts of flight MH370.

None of these theories have ever been proved with concrete evidence.
