His body was driven away early on Thursday morning before he was laid to rest next to Marilyn Monroe in a private memorial service on Saturday.

On Monday, Hefner’s wife Crystal made her first statement since his passing.

She told People Magazine: “I am heartbroken. I am still in disbelief.

“He gave me life. He gave me direction. He taught me kindness.

“I will feel eternally grateful to have been by his side, holding his hand, and telling him how much I love him.

“He changed my life, he saved my life. He made me feel loved every single day.”

In life, the unashamedly brass and bold multimillionaire made no bones about his love of women.

His publication launched the career of Anna Nicole Smith, who was Playmate of the Year in 1993.

Other beauties who graced the magazine’s pages included Farrah Fawcett in 1978, Sharon Stone in 1990, Lizzy Jagger in 2011, Geri Halliwell in 1998 and Kim Kardashian in 2007.

Even Dolly Parton was a cover girl in the 1970s.

And his beloved Pamela Anderson holds the record for most Playboy covers, notching up a whopping 14.

The original Playboy model was Marilyn Monroe who appeared in the first magazine, gracing the cover in 1953.
